OUR STORY

About Us

In The Beginning...

Norris Building Company was founded in 1977 as a partnership by Paul E. “Chip” Norris, Jr. and his wife, Patricia “Tricia” Norris. Chip worked out of his home office and pick-up truck; estimating and attending to the miscellaneous paperwork at night while acting as a laborer, carpenter, concrete finisher and superintendent during the day.  Tricia paid the bills and did the book keeping at night after teaching school during the day.

In 1979, the company became incorporated in the state of Alabama and relocated its office to downtown Montgomery.  In the beginning, our scope of work focused on small residential projects.  By 1980 we shifted our concentration to larger commercial and light industrial work ranging from renovations to brand new construction.  By 1984, the company had outgrown it’s office yet again, and relocated to east Montgomery off the Troy Highway to an office facility with an attached warehouse and two detached covered sheds to house our fleet of dump trucks and heavy equipment.

Our company has built several large custom homes in the past, but we prefer to concentrate on commercial construction. We regularly participate in the local competitive bid market and negotiate approximately 50% of our projects. Many of these negotiated projects are with repeat customers, and we are proud to continue these relationships.

Norris Building Company, Inc. performs most of its business in the tri-county area surrounding Montgomery, Alabama, but we have ventured as far as Dothan, Troy, and Huntsville for projects. We are a licensed general contractor in the state of Alabama with an unlimited bid classification.
